One-photo-a-day for a year. That is the challenge… and yes, I find it challenging at times (not so much the shooting but the processing and uploading that comes after). But weeks like this make it all worthwhile. This week has some of my favourite photos so far. I hope you enjoy them, too:
“say hi to daddy, on the phone”…
They’re all at it :)
This day was so rich, with so much fun that it was really hard chosing what shot-sequences to go for. This was a frankly fabulous playdate – very relaxed and fun with phones, fun with sticks and water play in the Bay… but I tried to narrow down to only a few of my very faves. Here little N. strolling by the water.
day 131
NIca has really been enjoying exploring distance and freedom, recently. She is all about the independence. In this game she says bye-bye, then runs really far away, up a hill. When she gets there, she shouts ‘do you want me to come back, now?’ to which I usually sign ‘yes’ and she comes running back for a big push-me-down hug :)
another fun playdate with some beautiful, inspiring friends:
day 132
What a fun week this was (about a month ago, now). Here a friend popped round for a playdate at ours:
day 133
actually the only photo I took this day was more revealing than my public settings allow… so, here is one from another day with too many fun shots. Nica in cowboy gear (ish):

day 135
So, did I mention this already?… after the Old MacDonald phase Nica decided she was (actually is, still) Andy Z, this fab local musician. On stage he wears tie-dye and a baseball cap… backwards. Like this:
That is actually one of my favourite photos of Nica since starting this project. So glad I keep pushing through. It is such a simple one, too. It didn’t look much on the camera’s little screen. I thought it was a bum day… but then I processed it and this popped out. Might go back and air-brush, too, for extra softness but I really like this.
day 136
This started off as a sensory box (toys hidden in rice) and ended up as pouring rice and animals everywhere….
day 137
So, when we were on holiday with the grandparents a couple of months back, we slid off our no-TV high horse (with a gentle bump)… Now she is watching about 20 minutes of YouTubes a few days a week. So far (!!!) she is mostly only watching two things: Caillou, in Portuguese – so I tell myself it is good language back-up, especially good for her to see pronouns used among groups, as otherwise she only hears me/I for Mommy and you for Nica… which I assume explains why pronouns have been slower to fall in place in Portuguese than English, for her… they’re getting there, now. Perhaps Ruca (Caillou in Portuguese) helped?! and, of course: Andy Z videos!!
